What Is a Muslin Blanket? A Guide for Adults

October 26, 2026
A plain-English guide to muslin blankets for adults: what muslin means today and what it meant historically, how it differs from gauze and double gauze, why it's crinkled, and what to check before you buy.
Muslin Blanket Sizes Explained: Relaxed vs Stretched

October 26, 2026
Why muslin blankets have two sizes, how to read any listing, US and Australian bed sizes side by side, and exactly how our personal-size blanket covers each bed.

Blanket size
	Inches	Centimeters
Relaxed: as it lies on your bed after a wash and dry	45″ × 73″	115 × 185
Stretched: pulled flat at the corners	63″ × 83″	160 × 210
Layers	6 layers of cotton gauze

Why two numbers?

Gauze is crinkled on purpose; pull the corners and it stretches out. We give both numbers and list the relaxed size first, because that's the one you'll sleep under.
